Jake Reston is a contemporary artist and designer based in Brisbane (Meanjin), Australia. Blending a background in design and branding with an instinctive visual language, his work explores the relationship between structure and spontaneity, where organic flow meets isometric precision. Since 2008, Reston has developed a multidisciplinary practice that moves fluidly across canvas, timber, and mixed media, applying distinct techniques to each surface.
His compositions are defined by a balance of geometry, rhythm, and restraint, immersive abstractions that evoke both natural and otherworldly landscapes. Through layered colour, texture, and spatial depth, Reston captures the emotion of experience and the energy of place without literal representation. The result is a body of work that feels both architectural and atmospheric, minimal in form yet rich in movement and tone.
