KATIE TOOTH
Katie considers herself to be a process painter, she calls her style Technical Abstractions'. Katie works primarily in acrylic paints, building up layers and geometric textured lines. The love of detail and expressive movement in her work is where she takes the viewer on a journey.
Tooth has been exhibiting since a young age, with her first solo exhibition in 2003 at the Noosa Regional Art Gallery, which would play a big part in Katie's artistic life from volunteering, hanging exhibitions and creating a group mentoring school students.
Moving to the Gold Coast, Katie would volunteer at HOTA (previously Gold Coast City Gallery) for a few years. Katie was selected to be a part of the Gold Coast City Art Prize and had her work acquired by the gallery.
In 2018 she was invited to attend a workshop on practical geometry led by artist Momo - Dave Momyer. Katie was selected for Momo artist mentorship and mural, which she created a mural in HOTA on the candy bar wall. Katie was very inspired by this opportunity.
Moving to Brisbane the end of 2018, she has been part of multiple group exhibitions at Aspire Gallery. An online finalist four years in a row at the Lethbridge 20000 Smalls exhibition. Katie has also exhibited solo at Milton Common Gallery Space.
Katie has also participated in the Life on Life's Terms exhibition for the three years running and has exhibited at B.LOWE Art Gallery for the past two years.
