TAMARA BEALE

​Tamara is a Brisbane-based artist whose practice spans painting and illustration, informed by over two decades of experience as an art educator. Working as an art teacher for Education Queensland, Tamara has developed a confident and flexible approach to a wide range of media and techniques.

Tamara has exhibited across Queensland and Melbourne, including the Brisbane Portrait Prize, Lethbridge Gallery, Brunswick Gallery (Victoria), and Gympie Regional Gallery. She is an active member of the Base Art Collective at Holland Park and the Wynnum Manly Arts Council.

At the heart of Tamara's practice is a strong interest in visual narrative and the ways people connect to place. Her recent work incorporates surrealist imagery layered with distinctly Australian motifs and mythology, creating poetic and sometimes unsettling scenes that blur the line between the familiar and the imagined. Drawing inspiration from her home city of Brisbane and its surrounding landscapes, Tamara's work invites viewers to reflect on memory, environment, and the stories embedded within place.
