Acrylic on canvas.
95 x 95 cm
The abstract figure is caught mid becoming, exploring the idea of identity in flux. Rather than presenting a fixed portrait, the piece becomes a state of being, an exploration of presence, fragility and the unspoken weight we carry within our bodies like fire.
The absence of facial details, removes individuality, inviting us to step into the figure's place.
Rough brushstrokes and layered textures were applied for the subject's outfit. The stark, pale background conveys how isolated the figure is, amplifying a sense of introspection. A tight dress with padded shoulders and glistening sequins. This outfit was chosen specifically as one's outfit can say a lot about their behaviour.
