This night city scene directly responds to the imagery of Vincent van Gogh's Café Terrace at Night, drawing from its compositional structure, colour relationships and illuminated nocturnal setting. Built from an acrylic under layer and resolved in oil, the work uses gestural brushwork and layered colour to explore light as atmosphere, translating a historical visual language into a contemporary urban context. The city is presented as a lived, transient moment shaped by illumination, movement and human presence.
