Gold Coast artist Melissa Bates has been amazing people with her incredible talents for many years. Rapidly slicing into a cardboard mount with a razor-sharp scalpel, she works with live models, peeling back excess layers of cardboard to create her Conceptual Cuts. Her 20 years of coordinating and studying life drawing has enhanced her skills and helped her to become one of the Gold Coast's premier artists. Her style is unique, visually stunning and of exceptional beauty. There is no one quite like her.

She has been recognised with several awards, including first prize in the Gold Coast 30 Icons Exhibition with her portrait of Mark Occhilupo and participated in exhibitions throughout Queensland and NSW.
