KERRY RUSHTON

Kerry is a self-taught artist with a foundation in scenic painting for film and theatre, honing her skills in scale, texture, and visual composition. After stepping away for some time to focus on family, she returned to painting five years ago with renewed purpose and a deepened connection to her creative process.

Her abstract expressionist work is rooted in intuition, supported by a studied exploration of composition, colour and gesture. Her work seeks a balance between spontaneity and thoughtful refinement - capturing the tension between chaos and calm, movement and stillness, inspired by the rhythms of daily life.

Through her work, she hopes to create a moment of pause and ponder - an invitation for viewers to reflect, feel, and find their own quiet connection to the polarities of life.

Immensité

Acrylic and mixed media on canvas.

124 x 124 cm

$2300

Immensité was created from a desire to push away the structures of daily life and invite a sense of inner spaciousness - one that allows for organic, cellular healing. In the Expansion series, I'm exploring how to retain the layers and lustre I love - elements that naturally give rise to intricate, often fine details - while also introducing a clear sense of space and balance within the narrative.

To A Fault

Acrylic and mixed media on canvas, framed.

184 x 124 cm

$2600

This piece shows the tension between a strong neutral force and the rigidity of intense focal points. Its organic marks allow the subtle small details to be seen as part of the whole in a carefully considered composition of balance.

"The fault line has geologically changed us. We can fight, scream, cry, and throw tantrums for things to be "the same". Eventually, we accept - perhaps with grace - its inevitable yet indistinguishable beauty".
